We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join us as a Dockworker. This role is vital for ensuring the safe, efficient loading and unloading of freight, and supporting overall warehouse and material handling operations. Job Summary

The dockworker will efficiently load and unload freight, ensuring correct items are placed on the right trucks. Safety is paramount, and Dock Workers will operate equipment like forklifts and manual techniques to handle materials. Proper securing of freight with airbags, cardboard, and straps is crucial to prevent damage during transport. This position directly impacts the reliability of deliveries to customers.

Primary Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manually, in compliance with DOT guidelines.
• Transport freight throughout the service center on various surfaces.
• Monitor freight shipment locations using the Dock Yard Management System.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and complete freight movement forms as needed.
• Hand load, rewrap, or stack freight as necessary.
• Ensure high-quality loading of trailers.
• Secure freight inside trailers with appropriate tools and supplies.
• Communicate frequently with service center personnel in a fast-paced environment.

Job Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

• Knowledge of safe lifting and transporting procedures.
• Understanding of freight transportation processes.
• Familiarity with loading techniques and freight forms.
• Ability to operate yard management systems and handheld tablets.

Physical Demands

The physical requirements include reading, writing, speaking English, standing, sitting, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, pushing/pulling, and using cognitive skills for safety and efficiency. Specific demands include handling objects up to 100 lbs., working in various environments, and maintaining attendance and punctuality.

Work Environment

Employees will work in diverse settings, including enclosed trailers and outdoor conditions, with exposure to noise, weather, and varying lighting. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, PM shift. Schedules may change based on business needs.
