We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join as a Dockworker. This role is vital for ensuring the safe, efficient loading and unloading of freight, and supporting warehouse and material handling operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and be team-driven. Job Summary

The dockworker will efficiently load and unload freight, ensuring correct items are placed on the right trucks. Safety is paramount, and Dock Workers will use equipment like forklifts and manual techniques to handle materials. Proper securing of freight with airbags, cardboard, and straps is crucial to prevent damage during transport. This position directly impacts the reliability of deliveries to customers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Load and unload freight on trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manually, in compliance with DOT guidelines. Use various loading techniques such as tight or cross loading.
  • Transport freight throughout the service center on non-forgiving surfaces.
  • Utilize Dock Yard Management System to monitor shipment locations.
  • Read and interpret shipping labels and complete freight movement forms as needed.
  • Hand load, rewrap, or stack freight as necessary.
  • Ensure quality loading of trailers.
  • Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies.
  • Maintain communication with service center personnel; work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • High school degree or equivalent

Experience:

  • Knowledge of safe lifting and transporting procedures
  • Understanding of freight transportation procedures
  • Experience with loading techniques
  • Ability to complete freight forms
  • Familiarity with yard management systems
  • Availability to meet customer schedules
  • Ability to operate handheld tablets

Physical Demands

Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting objects up to 100 lbs., standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working in various environmental conditions. Must have cognitive skills like attention, memory, and reasoning, and be able to work flexible shifts.
