Job summary

The Aaron’s Company, Inc. is seeking a Dock Supervisor in Belcamp, MD to coordinate daily warehouse tasks and lead teams in loading/unloading, stocking, and picking with a safety-first approach.

You will oversee FT and temporary staff, ensure efficient freight movement, and work with Inventory Control to resolve issues while maintaining high standards of accuracy and safety.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
  • Experience supervising warehouse staff or in a lead role is desirable.
  • Ability to operate warehouse tech including RF scanners and ILS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise FT and temporary staff to daily tasks and projects.
  • Direct loading/unloading, stocking, and picking to meet safety and efficiency goals.
  • Monitor and enforce safe, cost-effective material handling and cubing trailers.
  • Collaborate with Inventory Control for item location and issue resolution.
  • Complete daily inspections and participate in safety and training activities.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of associates; step in for AM when needed.
  • Gathers shipping paperwork and ensures accuracy of lane assignments.

Dock Supervisor

The salary range for this for is $22.00 to $24.50 per hour/annually.*

Overview

The Dock Supervisor works closely with the FC Assistant Manager to coordinate, facilitate, and oversee warehouse daily assignments and ongoing projects by directing the activities of warehouse personnel and taking the lead in performing loading/unloading, product stocking, and product picking duties. The Dock Supervisor utilizes available resources such as manpower and equipment to move freight in the safest and most cost effective manner to meet or exceed customer expectations, FC goals, and company standards.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Passcode & Key Holder
  • Leader on the floor and example to all associates in conduct, work ethic, respect, and overall knowledge of operations
  • Assigns, directs and supervises FT and Temp warehouse employees in his/her department to daily tasks and ongoing projects with an eye on production, safety, organization (consolidation, neatness, and aging rotation), loading/unloading standards, and product handling
  • Understands and is able to perform ILS system functions for their department
  • Understands and is able to operate RF Scanner functions for warehouse
  • Operates PIT’s: picks, stages, and/or put away as needed
  • Signs BOLS, seals outbound loads, releases drivers as needed
  • Complete daily inspection as requested
  • Perform monthly fire extinguisher inspection as requested
  • Participates in the evaluation process of temporary associates for hiring potential
  • Knowledge of and maintain compliance with Aaron’s Safety Rules – Training is provided
  • Assist with Associate Orientation and Training: General warehouse procedures, Safety, and PIT Certifications
  • Collaborate with Inventory Control for item location, consolidation and issue resolution
  • Gathers and checks all shipping paperwork for errors; such as lane assignments keyed incorrectly, order assigned to the wrong driver, stops listed correctly, etc.
  • Ability to create loads and route drivers. This will require the supervisor to know and understand “cubing a trailer”
  • Additional duties as needed including but not limited to filling in for an Assistant Manager in their absence
  • Supervise and observe the loading of trucks to determine conformance to loading patterns to prevent damage to freight during transit and that the safe operation of the truck will not be jeopardized
Required Education, Experience, And Certifications
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Associates’ Degree or equivalent experience preferred in transportation, business or related area

  • Standing: Frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of time)

Working Conditions

Retail/Warehouse Environment – Exposure to varying temperatures and may include working inside and outside in heat/cold. May encounter sounds/noises of varying levels.
