Job description

Marine Dock Operator
Baton Rouge, LA

PSC Group is seeking a Dock Operator to join our team! This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently and outdoors around the waterways. The Dock Operator serves as the person-in-charge of the dock and assists the Tankerman with the safe transfer of oil products and chemicals to and from barges and/or ships. Work Schedule:

On-Call: This position will travel locally to different chemical plants / refineries working a 24-hour variable on-call schedule.


Pay Range:

Starting at $20.00 with opportunity for advancement.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Meets with the person-in-charge of the vessel and communicates with facility personnel.
  2. Maintains detailed dock logs to ensure all events are recorded in chronological order.
  3. Operates crane, hydraulic, electrical, mechanical equipment, and manual / motor operated valves.
  4. Understands the facility piping layout to transfer the proper product.
  5. Gauges barge and retrieves sample of product from vessel.
  6. Completes any other duties that may be assigned to complete the job.
Job Qualifications:
  1. Experience is a plus but not required, and paid on-the-job training is available.
  2. May require a valid Driver’s License and / or a valid TWIC card, depending on work location.
  3. 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
  4. Pass a drug screen, physical, and background check.
  5. Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures is a plus.
