Job summary

ProTrans International, Inc. ® is seeking a Dock Coordinator to manage receiving, storage, and shipping of freight. The role involves data entry and strict adherence to procedures to ensure accurate warehousing and logistics operations.

The position requires coordinating trailers, performing yard checks, verifying paperwork, and maintaining inventory accuracy while adhering to safety standards. You will work under the supervision of the Team Leader or Facility Materials Manager in a non-exempt

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; two years related experience and/or training.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and write in English; bilingual ability may be required in some centers.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates receipt and processing of all incoming freight, examines freight for damage, and maintains inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinates the movement of trailers within the facility grounds and performs yard/dock checks.
  • Prepares materials for shipment: verify part numbers, count boxes and skids, ensure correct paperwork and barcode, and match trailer number with load.
  • Inspects and reports the physical condition of warehouse and equipment; escalate repairs and requisitions for replacements.
  • Confers with supervisor/manager to coordinate warehouse activities and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Identifies and implements continual improvement initiatives to enhance performance of the position, team, and company.

Job Description

Job Title: Dock Coordinator

Department: Logistics and Transportation and Operations

Reports to: Team Leader or Facility Materials Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating the proper receiving, storing, and shipping of all incoming freight and data entry floor transactions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Follows and ensures compliance with operational procedures for verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and maintaining accurate warehouse inventory.
  • Coordinates the receipt and processing of all incoming freight, examines freight for damage, maintains inventory management, cycle counts, inventory accuracy, and places freight in proper location.
  • Coordinates the movement of trailers within the facility grounds.
  • Coordinates yard and dock checks.
  • Coordinates the preparation of materials for shipment: to include verification of part numbers, count boxes, and skids as necessary, verify correct paperwork and bar coding, matches trailer number with load,
  • Inspects and reports physical condition of warehouse and equipment.
  • Escalate the need for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
  • Confers with the supervisor/manager to ensure coordination of warehouse activities.
  • Supports and complies with all company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Participates in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities.
  • Makes sure that the OS&D quarantine area is organized and procedures followed
  • Ensures that all material handlers have assignments and the appropriate tools to do their job.
  • Identifies and implements continual improvement initiatives to enhance the performance of the position, team, and company.
  • Could handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously or switching rapidly between tasks while maintaining high productivity and accuracy
Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsibilities include participating in interviews with supervisor/manager present, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; provide feedback to supervisor/manager on performance of employees; assists the Manager in addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to read and write in English is required. Ability to speak Spanish and English maybe required in some centers.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed by uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of TMS software.

Other Skills And Abilities

Thorough Knowledge of loading and unloading trailers including the use of logistics bars.
