Job summary

PurposeBuilt Brands, a legacy leader in surface-care products, seeks a Dock Clerk for the 1st shift in Manchester, TN. You will oversee shipping/receiving, accurately document transactions, and ensure materials move efficiently through the dock and production areas.

You must have a valid forklift license, 1–2 years of material-handling experience, and the ability to work independently with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Overtime and flexible hours may be required.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts to load, unload, move, stack, stage, and store materials, finished goods, and supplies.
• Perform shipping and receiving activities, verify quantities, item numbers, lot codes, destinations, and documentation; enter transactions into the ERP system and investigate discrepancies.
• Review and maintain shipping and receiving records; ensure inbound materials are labeled and documented.
• Build customer orders from pick tickets and stage shipments; verify orders, quantities, and shipping requirements.
• Transfer materials between inventory and production areas; replenish manufacturing lines to support production.

The Role

The 1st Shift Dock Clerk is responsible for overseeing shipping and receiving operations, with a primary focus on maintaining accurate documentation, following company SOPs, and ensuring the efficient movement of materials within the facility. This role requires a valid forklift driver’s license and strong attention to detail to review and process shipping and receiving documentation accurately.

What You Will Do

• Safely operate forklifts to load, unload, move, stack, stage, and store materials, finished goods, and supplies throughout the warehouse, dock, and production areas.
• Perform shipping and receiving activities, including verifying quantities, item numbers, lot codes, destinations, and documentation; enter transactions accurately into the ERP system and investigate discrepancies.
• Review and maintain shipping and receiving records, ensuring inbound materials are properly labeled and documented.
• Build customer orders from pick tickets, stage shipments, and verify orders, quantities, and shipping requirements before loading.
• Transfer materials between inventory and production areas and replenish manufacturing lines to support uninterrupted production.
• Remove finished goods from production lines, shrink-wrap and stage products, and return unused materials to inventory with accurate inventory updates.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through proper material handling, FIFO practices, cycle counts, physical inventories, and discrepancy resolution.
• Communicate effectively with production personnel, warehouse team members, and Quality to support operational needs and address material-related concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including pallet organization, waste disposal, and recycling activities.
• Conduct daily forklift inspections and promptly report equipment, inventory, safety, or quality concerns.
• Adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing and distribution environment and perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of experience in material handling within a manufacturing environment.

• Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts, including overtime, if needed.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to digitally enter information accurately through a computer system

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly; heavier with assistance.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and kneeling.
• Climb in/out of forklifts and occasional use of ladders.
• Use hands for handling materials and documentation.
• Visual and hearing ability to read labels and respond to warehouse activity.
• Tolerate warehouse conditions (heat, cold, noise, dust).
• Wear required PPE (e.g., safety shoes, vest, gloves).
