Dock and Door Technician – Lathrop, California, United States

Raymond West is looking for a Dock and Door Technician to join our service team! The primary objectives of the Dock and Door Technician are: (1) proficient repair and service of the customer's equipment; (2) maintain good communication and working relationships with customers, peers, and management; (3) represent and sell the entire company; (4) be profitable with direct labor billing; and (5) work within all safety guidelines established by Raymond West and OSHA.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Repair all types of Dock and Door equipment that RW sells and services.
  • Repair all types of equipment that Raymond West sells and services.
  • Update training and skills on a continuing basis.
  • Train other employees as needed.
  • Maintain a profitable billing level.
  • Follow all Service Department procedures.
  • Communicate with assigned Service leadership.
  • Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate and orderly fashion.
  • Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work.
  • Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work.
  • Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly (inside and outside) vehicle.
  • Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable.
  • Represent the entire company at all times.
  • Pass Raymond Certification and re‑certification if applicable.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record as established by the company's insurance carrier.
  • Report accidents whether self or customer.
  • Account for 100% of available time during working hours.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when necessary.
  • Must coordinate all overtime with assigned supervisor.
  • Must follow all procedures in the company's Employee Handbook.
  • Must follow safety procedures and use good judgment in regard to safety.
  • Must be willing to work out of town as necessary.
  • Establish a positive rapport with customers.
  • Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by the Service Supervisors or Managers.

  • Must pass all available certificates appropriate to the position.
  • Must have working knowledge of basic DC electricity, basic AC electricity, internal combustion, and diesel engines.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Raymond Level 1 Certified or working towards that goal, if applicable.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with no more than the allowable level of points on record, if applicable.
  • Maintain personally owned tools according to approved minimum tool list.
  • Maintain additional tools as required by duties and certification level.
  • Must be able to take directions.
  • Must be a team player, i.e., to work with peers.
  • Must have working knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Must have mechanical abilities.
  • Must maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
  • Willing and able to learn quickly and perform accurately and neatly with a degree of flexibility.
  • Must be motivated to continuous self‑development and training.
  • Willing to assume more responsibility as required.
Education/Experience

Minimum Education and Experience: Determined by position.

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years breakdown experience or comparable service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Travel Requirement
  • This position will be based in the field and require daily travel within assigned territories.
  • Technicians will be provided a company vehicle and a company Fuel Card to pay for vehicle expenses.
  • Must be able to be insured by Raymond West.

  • The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and the risk of electrical shock.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.
Pay Range

The hourly range for this position is $22.90 - $50.90. The specific pay offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
