Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) is seeking a detail oriented individualto work as a part of the record office staff at Decatur Correctional Center.This position will perform technical office support functions, assist with calculating
sentences, and maintain communication with multiple departments. This is an incredibleopportunity to work in a fast-paced office environment with a great team. We encourageall qualified candidates to apply.

Essential Functions
  • Performs technical office support functions including the calculation of Earned Program Sentence Credits and Earned Discretionary Sentence Credits encompassing knowledge of applicable statutes, appellate mandates, and how increments of time are awarded.
  • Assists in regulating, monitoring, and processing information and documents regarding sentence calculations.
  • Monitors Offender360 (O360) system to ensure correct data for appropriate time awards, time revocations, projected release dates, and mandatory release dates.
  • Organizes and maintains files relating to the Earned Program Sentence Credits and the Earned Discretionary Sentence Credits.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of secretarial/business college, OR completion of high school and two (2) years of related office experience, OR two (2) years of independent business experience.
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately 30 words per minute.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience with office practices and procedures.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite or similar computer software.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience using basic mathematics in computations in a work setting.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience interpreting legal terminology.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience using a data entry program such as Offender360, or similar program.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience gathering data and preparing reports.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working with confidential information.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience meeting deadlines.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience maintaining a paper filing system.
Conditions of Employment
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
