The incumbent will monitor the quantitative and qualitative achievements of the team and report results to the supervisor or management.

Job Title: Technician (2nd Shift)

Summary

This role will be responsible for providing guidance, instruction, direction, and leadership to a team to achieve performance goals. Monitoring team achievements and reporting to management is essential.

Essential Functions

This is a representative sample and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities:

  • Receive row assignments from the supervisor’s/operator’s schedule posted at the time clock.
  • Check machines at the beginning and periodically during the shift for any issues.
  • Monitor knitting machines for fabric defects and ensure pattern accuracy.
  • Patrol the front of machines using a spotlight at least twice daily.
  • Stop machines when defects are noticed, determine the cause, and repair if possible or call a fixer.
  • Record defects and production data accurately.
  • Prepare rolls, calculate, and plot SPC charts, and alert doffer by signal light.
  • Contact fixers for mechanical issues and document all actions.
  • Maintain yarn levels and record production at shift end.
  • Follow safety rules, maintain good housekeeping, and perform other tasks as directed.
  • Perform lock out/tag out procedures as required.
  • Clean and grease machine parts, and ensure proper machine operation.
  • Set and thread guide bars, make adjustments, and alert fixers as needed.
  • Handle beams and warps physically, and ensure vehicles are maintained.
  • Follow all safety and housekeeping protocols and perform additional duties as assigned.

Ability To

  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
  • Work independently, solve problems, interpret instructions, and multi-task.
  • Work physically in a manufacturing environment with manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Organize, prioritize, and adapt to changing environments.
  • Lead by example with strong communication and professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.

Education and/or Experience
