Job summary

Illumina is hiring a Systems Integration Engineer 1 in the United States. You will integrate, test, and troubleshoot DNA sequencing systems, working across hardware, software, and biochemical assay workflows to deliver robust products.

You will analyze data, design verification plans, and document procedures while collaborating with research, product development, and manufacturing teams to drive problems to root cause.

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding or keen interest in sequencing systems and assay platforms.
• Hands-on wet laboratory experience with biochemical assays or instrumentation.
• Broad scientific knowledge across biology, chemistry, software, and data analysis.
• Ability to analyze large data sets and draw conclusions.
• Familiarity with AI tools or scripting (Python) is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross‑functional teams.
• Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and collaborative in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on integration, testing and troubleshooting of DNA sequencing systems and assay platforms.
• Execute system-level debugging across biochemical assays, hardware, software, and software applications.
• Analyze data, form hypotheses, and propose practical solutions with cross-functional teams.
• Log and communicate issues using established documentation and tracking processes.
• Apply analytical techniques to data and contribute to verification reports.
