Job summary

Marshall University School of Pharmacy in Huntington is seeking a DNA Technician I to support forensic testing operations, handling evidence, maintaining chain of custody, and assisting analysts with preparation and data handling.

You will operate and maintain laboratory instruments, manage reagents, and keep detailed records under FBI QAS and ISO/IEC 17025, with level I authorization and supervision from a Technical Leader.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written procedures and instructions.
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation maintenance.
• Strong record-keeping and contamination-control skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive, verify, label, and document evidentiary items with chain of custody.
• Perform presumptive and confirmatory screening tests and DNA extraction.
• Maintain instrument operation, calibration, and preventive maintenance records.
• Support Forensic DNA Analysts and escalate deviations to supervisors.
