Main Purpose of Job

Join Us in Making a Difference at DJS! The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) is dedicated to transforming young lives, creating safer communities, and fostering equitable systems. We are seeking passionate individuals for the role of DJS Superintendent III (Facility Administrator). Join our team and make a meaningful impact on youth and the community at DJS! The Facility Administrator provides direct management and supervision for the operation of the Green Ridge Youth Center, a 40-bed juvenile facility, including personnel and staffing, retention, education, medical and behavioral health services for youth, and the rehabilitation of delinquent youth. The incumbent is responsible for the care and custody of youth in Department care. DJS is mandated to provide secure and non-secure residential facilities for the rehabilitation of delinquent youth.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in facility management or operations, including at least three (3) years of supervisory or managerial experience in a juvenile detention, residential youth treatment program, or similar institutional setting.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Experience in preparing and managing budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation to meet facility needs and maintaining operational success.
  • Experience with developing, enforcing, and evaluating policies that align with State and departmental guidelines.
  • Experience with setting clear goals, conducting performance evaluations, and addressing staff training and development needs.
