Penn State University in State College, PA, is seeking a Division Head for the CFD Division within ARL's Fluid Dynamics and Acoustics Office. You will lead a team of engineers and researchers to advance state‑of‑the‑art CFD tools for DoD and industry sponsors.
The role requires a strong CFD research record, leadership experience, and eligibility for security clearance; on‑site work with periodic travel, plus opportunities to shape cross‑discipline collaborations and project portfolios.
We are searching for a Division Head for the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Division in the Fluid Dynamics and Acoustics Office (FDAO) at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. The Division Head will lead a premier group of approximately fifteen engineers and research faculty to bring state‑of‑the‑art computational fluid dynamics tools to our Department of Defense and industrial sponsors.

Fully on‑site located in State College, PA, but hybrid or work‑from‑home options may be considered based on project‑dependent ability. This role requires periodic travel to remote locations.
Minimum Education, Work Experience & Required Certifications:
• Division Head (ARL) – Principal Professional: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science, 19+ years of relevant experience, no required certifications.
• Division Head (ARL) – Senior Professional: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science, 14+ years of relevant experience, no required certifications.
Background checks and security clearances will be completed in accordance with university policies. All employees must be eligible for a government security clearance and comply with the ARL drug‑testing program and monitoring requirements. Only U.S. citizens may apply.
Salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $203,808 – $336,300. A competitive benefits package is available, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, robust retirement plans, paid time off, and a generous 75% tuition discount for employees, spouses, and children.
