Working closely with clinical colleagues across the academic medical center, the Division plays an important role in the diagnosis and management of patients with a broad spectrum of complex abdominal and pelvic conditions while contributing to the Department’s education and academic missions. As UR Medicine continues to strengthen and integrate its clinical programs across the region, Korn Ferry has been engaged to conduct a national search for an accomplished academic radiologist and collaborative physician leader to serve as the next Division Head, Abdominal Imaging.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished abdominal imaging radiologist and collaborative physician leader who brings the clinical expertise, judgment, and interpersonal skills to lead and further develop a high-performing academic abdominal imaging program. They will be a visible and engaged leader who builds trust, fosters a strong sense of team, and creates an environment in which faculty can thrive professionally and academically. With responsibility for a team of 16 abdominal imaging faculty, the Division Head will be an effective mentor and talent developer who can recruit, retain, and develop outstanding physicians while promoting accountability, collegiality, and a shared commitment to exceptional patient care.
The new leader will bring a forward-looking perspective to the continued growth and evolution of Abdominal Imaging across UR Medicine. They will be comfortable leading within an increasingly integrated and geographically distributed clinical enterprise and will work collaboratively across Imaging Sciences and with clinical partners throughout UR Medicine to strengthen programs, enhance access, and support consistently high-quality imaging services. The successful candidate will understand the opportunities presented by advances in imaging technology and will foster an environment that encourages innovation, continuous improvement, and the thoughtful evolution of clinical practice across CT, MRI, ultrasound, and abdominal fluoroscopy. They will also recognize and support the diverse clinical interests of faculty, enabling subspecialization and the continued development of areas of expertise within the Division.
As an academic leader, the Division Head will value the complementary missions of clinical care, education, research, and service and will create opportunities for faculty to contribute meaningfully across those domains. They will encourage scholarship and interdisciplinary collaboration, including opportunities to partner with clinical colleagues and investigators across the University’s basic science and engineering communities. The Division Head will also foster excellence in teaching and mentorship, supporting the education and development of medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty. Above all, the successful candidate will be an approachable, inclusive, and highly collaborative leader who can articulate a compelling vision for the future of Abdominal Imaging and engage faculty and institutional partners in bringing that vision to life.

They should be fellowship trained in Abdominal Imaging, or equivalent experience, and be eligible for medical licensure in the State of New York. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a record of clinical excellence in abdominal imaging and a strong track record of achievement within an academic environment, including experience in education, scholarship, research, or other academic pursuits commensurate with appointment to the faculty of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Previous leadership experience in abdominal imaging, radiology, or a related clinical program is highly desirable.
