Job description

Job Description

The Jim and Eleanor Randall Department of Surgery at Cedars-Sinai has opened the search for a Division Director of Breast Surgical Oncology.

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking leader to serve as Division Director of Breast Surgical Oncology. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in breast surgical oncology, demonstrate effective leadership skills and team building ability, a strong academic and research record, and a commitment to excellence in patient care. The Division Director will be responsible for shaping the future of our breast surgical oncology services, fostering a collaborative environment, and driving strategic growth initiatives within the institution.

The Saul and Joyce Brandman Breast Center, a project of the Women’s Guild at Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute, cares for patients newly diagnosed with breast cancer, at high risk for breast cancer and breast cancer survivors. The breast faculty work in a dedicated breast center with state-of-the-art imaging alongside a premier radiology team and have access to multidisciplinary specialists with clinical and research interests in breast cancer. Patients have access to expert surgeons, nurse navigators, genetic counseling, supportive services and clinical trials found only at Cedar-Sinai. Moreover, the breast center recently opened the Cayton-Goldrich BRCA center, the first of its kind, multispecialty clinic for BRCA patients.

The Division currently consists of eleven faculty who have expertise in breast surgical oncology. The Director will have oversight and responsibilities for all breast surgical oncology services offered at the main medical center and affiliate locations. Faculty provide expert clinical care, train medical students, general surgery residents, as well as fellows in the Society of Surgical Oncology-approved breast surgical oncology fellowship as well as fellows in an ACGME complex surgical oncology fellowship.

At Cedars-Sinai Cancer, we offer state-of-the-art treatments, experimental therapies, next-generation research, and cutting-edge clinical trials for over sixty types of cancer at more than ten locations throughout Greater Los Angeles. There are over 200 clinical trials available to patients at any given time.

Cedars-Sinai treats cancer patients with a multi-disciplinary approach. Our rapidly expanding, vertically integrated health system is a central destination for the integration of revolutionary advances into daily clinical practice. The Cedars healthcare system saw over 7,600 new cancer cases, creating customized, coordinated care plans that fit each patient’s unique needs. The Cedars-Sinai Cancer faculty published over 250 publications, 23% in high impact journals, and has over $35 million in grant funding.

Patients turn to us because they know our progress is their progress, and our strides forward are their success.

Cedars-Sinai is a premier academic nonprofit health system in the heart of the vibrantly diverse city of Los Angeles, with a rapidly expanding global presence.

Cedars-Sinai physicians and scientists are leaders in basic and clinical research, bringing advances in medicine directly from the laboratory to the bedside. Opportunities for surgeons to collaborate with productive full-time researchers present a unique opportunity for the academically motivated surgeon. We are committed to expanding and strengthening our regional, national, and international reputation for delivering high value services at all sites of care. This mission has been furthered by the establishment of Cedars-Sinai Health System (CSHS), an expansive regional healthcare system. The system includes three of the finest hospitals in Southern California beyond the flagship Cedars-Sinai Medical Center totaling more than 2,300 beds with revenues exceeding $7 billion annually.

At Cedars-Sinai, we are caretakers and innovators committed to the pursuit of equitable healthcare. But health equity is not possible without representation. Our commitment to diversity goes beyond demographics or checking boxes. Our people must reflect the diverse identities, experiences and geographies of the communities and patients we serve – because that’s what our patients, colleagues and communities deserve.
