Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center invites applicants for the Division Chief of Surgical Oncology in the Department of Surgery.

The role leads a multidisciplinary team across HPB/foregut, endocrine, breast, and more, with a vision to advance system-wide cancer surgery services. The successful candidate will be an accomplished surgeon-scientist with extramural funding, education and mentorship leadership, and a commitment to diversity and collaboration within a leading academic

Qualifications

  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree.
  • Board Certified in General Surgery with fellowship in CGS Oncology, HPB, Breast or Endocrine Surgery.
  • Ability to obtain PA medical license.
  • Narcotics certificates for practice.
  • National distinction in surgical oncology research, education, and clinical care.
  • Extramural funding (ideally NIH) and leadership of trials/research.
  • Leadership experience in an academic healthcare environment.
  • Commitment to diversity, collaboration and growth across care, research and education.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a growing multidisciplinary Division of Surgical Oncology (HPB/foregut, endocrine, breast, peritoneal surface malignancy, neuroendocrine, skin/soft tissue).
  • Build strengths in CRS/HIPEC, neuroendocrine, and hepatobiliary surgery with the Penn State Cancer Institute.
  • Advance the division's academic mission and mentorship for faculty and trainees.
  • Expand the division's clinical trials portfolio with partner institutes for patient access.
  • Collaborate across Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Gyn Oncology, Gastroenterology, Radiology.
  • Serve as a system-wide leader, guiding cancer surgery services across Penn State Health.
