Job summary

Baystate Health is a not-for-profit, integrated health system in western Massachusetts. Baystate Children’s Hospital is a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with subspecialists across 15 pediatric divisions.

Our 107-bed facility includes the region's only PICU and level III NICU, as well as a designated 24-hour pediatric ED and outpatient specialty services. As Division Chief you will provide strategic leadership for operations, safety, quality, and recruitment, participate in senior leadership

Qualifications

• Board-certified in Pediatric Infectious Diseases with subspecialty expertise.
• At least 5 years of progressive leadership in an academic department.
• Faculty appointment at UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Promote academic excellence via medical education and research initiatives.
• Advance clinical best practices and a high-reliability culture.
• Lead clinical care across Baystate Pediatric services, including inpatient and outpatient settings.

Job description

Our 107-bed facility includes the region's only PICU and level III NICU, as well as a designated 24-hour pediatric ED and outpatient specialty services.

As Division Chief you will:

• Provide Leadership

  • Implement strategy for operations, safety, quality, and recruitment/retention.

  • Understand and monitor the division's budget, implement goals, and assume stewardship of all financial operations.

  • Participate as part of the senior leadership team in departmental and children's hospital strategy and decision making.

  • Promote an environment of accountability, innovation, and agility.

• Facilitate Academic Excellence

  • Lead engagement in medical education (peds, med-peds residents, 4th year medical students).

  • Guide and monitor the academic advancement of faculty.

  • Cultivate and facilitate clinical and QI research initiatives.

• Promote Clinical Best Practices

• Lead high reliability organization- culture of safety, quality and performance improvement.
• Practice clinically with our full-time pediatric ID faculty and support staff in our well-established and busy division. Practice at Baystate Pediatric Outpatient Specialty Center in Springfield MA, with inpatient consults at nearby Baystate Medical Center.

• Qualifications: AMBS BC pediatric infectious diseases. 5+ years' experience with evidence of progressive management responsibilities and leadership in an academic department. Faculty appointment to UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate commensurate with experience.

• Compensation: Our compensation package consists of a base salary of between $190,000- $270,000 (based on 1.0 FTE, experience level and qualifications) and annual incentive bonus opportunities.
