Job summary

The University of Virginia Department of Anesthesiology seeks a Division Chief for Pediatric Anesthesiology. The appointee will lead clinical, educational, and scholarly activities across locations, promoting perioperative care for pediatric patients and advancing quality, mentoring, and strategic growth.

Candidates should have ≥3 years as a pediatric anesthesiologist in academia, leadership experience, and ABA certification or eligibility.

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent degree; anesthesiology residency; pediatric anesthesiology fellowship.
• American Board of Anesthesiology certification or certification-eligible.
• At least 3 years in an academic pediatric anesthesiology position with leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Design protocols to optimize pediatric anesthesia care across surgical/interventional procedures.
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons and proceduralists to ensure optimal workflow.
• Develop and maintain a robust pediatric sedation service and related programs.
• Lead division meetings and mentor faculty and residents; drive education and scholarly activity.
• Support faculty development and track progress during reappointments and promotions.
