Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a Labor Relations professional to support collective bargaining administration and align labor agreements with the company’s overall labor strategy. You will collaborate with division leaders and corporate labor staff to execute strategic plans for grievances, EEOC trends, associate surveys, and Ethics Point inquiries.

You will travel up to 50% to support business units, promote harmonious labor relations, and advise management on progressive discipline

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of labor or comparable experience.
  • Excellent written/oral communication and planning/organizational skills.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution.
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative to achieve high standards/results.
  • Strong team player who has the ability to assist in building teams and motivate others.
  • Demonstrated ability to protect highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong Microsoft suite experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the labor strategy that aligns with the corporate labor strategy.
  • Ensure best practices for grievance handling and related surveys and inquiries.
  • Work with management to promote harmonious labor relations.
  • Ensure labor and employee relations training is conducted.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state labor and employment laws.
  • Investigate Ethics Point Hotline calls and close cases.
  • Identify trends to improve associate relations.
  • Administer local reorganizations, layoffs, or reductions in force with coordination.
  • Educate and advise management on progressive discipline.
  • Administer grievance and complaint resolution at informal steps.
  • Work with Legal and represent the company in labor/employment matters as needed.
  • Support labor agreement negotiations and provide information for negotiations.
  • Maintain current information on union and non-union contracts.
  • Maintain copies of competitive contracts and area information.
  • Travel up to 50% to support business units.
  • Perform essential job functions with/without accommodation.

Job description

Responsible for supporting the effective and consistent administration of the collective bargaining agreements. Work collaboratively with assigned division/business unit leadership/corporate labor staff to align labor agreements with the philosophy of the overall company labor strategy. Support the execution of strategic plans for grievance administration, EEOC trends, Associate Insight Survey, Exit Interview survey trends, and Ethics Point inquires. Track progress on established goals and objectives. Be a trusted partner and advisor for contract negotiations and Trust Fund activities. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Execute the labor strategy that aligns with the corporate labor strategy
  • Ensure that action plans related to the establishment of best practices for grievance handling, EEO complaints, Ethic Point inquires, Exit Interview Surveys and Associate Insight Surveys are established
  • Work diligently with management to promote harmonious labor relations
  • Ensure required labor and employee relations training is conducted for the division/business unit
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state labor and employment laws
  • Ensure calls to the Ethics Point Hotline are investigated and brought to closure in a timely manner
  • Identify trends associated to establish actions to improve our overall associate relations
  • Administer any local reorganization, layoffs or reduction in force situations and helps coordinate associate relations activities related to new projects
  • Educate and advise management in the administration of progressive discipline
  • Administer grievance and complaint resolution processes with focus on resolving grievances at the informal step of the grievance process
  • Work with Legal and, upon request, represent company in labor/employment or legal matters and in litigation initiated by associates through local unions, governmental agencies and civil disputes
  • Support labor agreement negotiations and provide appropriate information for negotiations
  • Maintain current information within operating area of union and non-union organizations
  • Maintain copy of all competitive contracts and area information related to area contracts and competition
  • Travel up to 50% of time to support business units
