Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Valid Kentucky teaching certification for Special Education required.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the students’ maturity and interests.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides the learning process toward curriculum goals and communicates objectives to students.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media.
• Strives to implement the district’s philosophy of education and objectives.
• Assesses student progress and provides reports as required.
• Diagnoses learning disabilities and seeks district specialist assistance as needed.
• Maintains records and protects students, equipment, and facilities.
• Implements policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
• Provides availability to students and parents outside instructional hours when needed.
• Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteers.
• Maintains professional competence and participates in staff activities.
