Job summary

Killeen ISD is seeking an Orientation and Mobility Specialist to support students who are blind or visually impaired across district sites.

The role focuses on developing individualized orientation and mobility programs, assessing needs, and integrating services with vision teachers and other staff to promote independence in school, home, and community. This exempt, district-wide position reports to the Coordinator for Special Education Campus Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Science or equivalent with emphasis in Orientation and Mobility.
• Experience working with visually impaired students and IEP processes.
• Certificate from The Academy for Certification of Vision, Rehabilitation and Education Professionals.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the referral and assessment process of visually impaired students.
• Develops appropriate IEP goals and objectives, and Early Childhood Intervention outcomes.
• Maintains reports, records and Medicaid billing documentation in the district system.
• Collaborates with vision teachers and other staff to coordinate services.
• Provides direct orientation and mobility services and consults with school personnel.
