Job summary

Missouri Department of Transportation in Lee's Summit seeks a district utilities engineer to negotiate and prepare agreements with utilities and municipalities for relocating highway structures. You will coordinate relocations, draft agreements and specifications, review cost estimates, and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.

The role requires ABET-accredited engineering degree, Missouri PE license, and at least five years of highway/transportation experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
• Five years of experience in highway or transportation engineering.

Responsibilities

• Notifies utility companies and municipalities of upcoming projects and plans adjustments.
• Prepares reimbursable utility agreements, highway and construction easements, jobspecial provisions, and engineering specifications; reviews and approves utility plan of adjustment and subcontract work; verifies design and construction cost estimates meet state and federal auditing guidelines.
• Contacts and works with municipalities, consultants, and utility companies on relocation matters and estimates cost to department.
• Reviews utility permit applications for policy compliance and prepares variancedocumentation.
• Conducts field visits with municipalities, consultants, and utility companies to explain how projects will affect their facilities.

• Prepares reimbursable utility agreements, highway and construction easements, jobspecial provisions, and engineering specifications; reviews and approves utility plan of adjustment and subcontract work; verifies design and construction cost estimates meetstate and federal auditing guidelines; negotiates and approves Commission obligationpercentage on reimbursable adjustments; approves final utility invoices for payment.
• Contacts and works with municipalities, consultants, and utility companies on matterspertaining to relocation of structures or facilities and estimates cost to department.
• Reviews utility permit applications for compliance with policy and prepares policy variancedocumentation.
• Conducts field visits with municipalities, consultants, and utility companies to explain howprojects will affect their facilities.

All you need for success:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
• Five years of experience in highway or transportation engineering.
