Job summary

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the development of the district philosophy of education and collaboration.
• Carries out all policies established by the Board of Education; provides professional leadership for the educational program and reports to the Board on all aspects.
• Assumes responsibility for own professional growth: keeps current with literature and best practices; attends appropriate meetings and conferences.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Board of Education.
• Facilitates development and refinement of the educational vision, mission, and beliefs; assists the Dolton School Board in setting priorities for the system.
• Promotes and maintains a positive district climate; works with students, staff, parents, and community agencies to maintain a positive atmosphere.
• Initiates and guides policy development for Board consideration and implements necessary administrative rules.
• Ensures policies promote a safe, respectful school environment.
• Ensures administrators and teachers communicate student progress and curricula to stakeholders.
• Conducts reviews of the total school program and advises on recommendations for educational advancement.
• Recommends revision and adoption of courses of study and curricula to the Board of Education.
• Directs the annual operating budget with the Business Manager and oversees its implementation.
• Oversees development, implementation and assessment of educational programs aligned with standards.
• Supervises and evaluates district administrators up to principals and assistant principals.
• Recommends selection, assignment, dismissal and evaluation of all personnel.
• Leads district-wide school-community relations programs.
• Serves as District Representative for employee negotiations.
• Keeps the public informed of the district status.
• Ensures meetings of administrators and staff to discuss improvement and welfare of the District.
• Communicates Board policy actions to staff and coordinates staff feedback.
• Represents the school system to professional and lay groups and transmits suggestions to the Board.
• Represents the District in dealings with other school systems and agencies; serves as spokesperson for media.
• Coordinates all Board events.
