Qualifications
- Hold Bachelor's degree or equivalent and valid New Jersey driver's license with no serious infractions
- Have prior experience in law enforcement
- Have knowledge of security measures, crowd control, fire prevention, and security assessment procedures
- Possess good moral character, integrity, initiative, and sound judgment
- Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills
- Serve as a positive role model and work supportively with young adults and school-aged children
- Represent the district positively when interacting with staff, administration, parents, and the community
- Work flexible hours as required and assigned
- Meet all requirements of psychological and physical examinations, including drug, hearing, and color vision tests, as determined by a medical provider. The district may require a psychiatric assessment for employment or handgun qualification.
- Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status via Federal Form I-9
- Undergo and clear a criminal record check through the Department of Education
- Meet other qualifications of academic, professional, and personal excellence as specified by the Dunellen Board of Education
Firearm Requirements
- Maintain an active Retired Police Officer Permit to Carry (E-RPO) issued by the State Police
- Maintain a RED SORA certification for Armed Security Officer issued by NJSP
- Own and maintain a personal handgun (semi-automatic, 9mm or .40 caliber) that meets district standards, including biannual qualification
- Firearm must be in excellent working condition, with no modifications from manufacturer specifications
- Use approved ammunition meeting Retired Law Enforcement Officer Program standards
- Carry a district-reimbursed Level III Retention Duty Holster
- Wear the firearm openly as part of the security uniform

Salary Range: $40 - $55 per hour, depending on experience
