Job summary

SmartStop Self Storage in North Carolina is seeking a District Manager to lead multiple stores, drive exceptional customer experiences, and achieve revenue goals. The role requires self-driven leadership, coaching staff, and hands-on oversight of district operations across Charlottesville/Raleigh, Indian Land, and Richmond markets.

You will recruit and develop high-performing teams, drive audits and standards, and travel within the district for meetings and training.

Qualifications

• Multi-unit retail leadership experience required.
• Proven ability to meet/exceed performance standards.
• Excellent communication and motivational skills.
• Ability to recruit, develop, and coach staff.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Salary:

starting at $85,000 + metrics based quarterly bonus & annual discretionary bonus

District Manager – Primarily North Carolina - Job Summary

We’re looking for a self‑driven, self‑aware, leader who’s devoted to inspiring and motivating their team and providing exceptional customer experience.

Job Duties

• Accountable for all district store activities and operations impacting customers, staff, and the achievement of company goals/expectations through direct interaction and use of appropriate company resources.
• Meets company revenue goals by achieving or exceeding monthly budget expectations.
• Conducts facility audits to ensure physical and operational standards are being met.
• Directly oversees daily activities and scheduling of staff and provides feedback, positive and corrective.
• Recruits, interviews, and hires new staff members.
• Leads by example, creating a climate in which staff want to do their best by leading and communicating a shared vision with teammates and providing coaching and development.
• Travels within the designated area to every store and to other designated locations as directed by the company to attend meetings and training sessions. This district has stores in Charlottesville/Raleigh, NC, Indian Land, SC and Richmond, VA).

Qualifications

• Must have multi-unit retail sales/service operations leadership experience, preferably in transferable industry such as Retail Sales, Hotel, Restaurant, Leasing, Travel, Car Rental, or Equipment Rental.
• Proven ability to consistently meet and exceed performance standards.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and coach staff.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deal with numerous interruptions.
• Works well under pressure while meeting deadlines consistently.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Demonstrated leadership in building, developing and retaining high‑performing teams of hourly employees in a retail, sales, service or related industry.
• Exceptional communication, people skills, and time management skills.
• Proficient in MS Office and web‑based systems.
• Passion for customer service excellence and coaching staff.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

• Annual compensation to include a base pay of $85,000 with a potential of up to $120,000 with a metrics‑based quarterly bonuses and performance based annual bonus.
