Job description

Overview

CubeSmart is currently seeking a District Manager in Training. While managing the daily operations of one of our facilities, the District Manager in Training will participate in an intensive six to twelve-month training program to acquire operational and managerial knowledge, learn about outstanding store performance, and gain exposure to all aspects of CubeSmart’s business. Upon successful completion, the trainee will have the opportunity to become a District Manager.

Are you looking for an opportunity to grow your career and make a difference? Are you eager to take on more responsibility, enhance your skills, and learn from the best? Are you flexible geographically and able to relocate? If yes, then this position at CubeSmart may be for you.

Who we are

At CubeSmart, we prioritize culture. Our mission of “genuine care” and our tagline “It’s What’s Inside That Counts” foster a fun, collaborative environment that has contributed to our rapid growth and industry recognition.

Our award-winning team cares about our customers and their needs. We are passionate, responsible, and understanding. We have a can-do attitude, are committed to success, and lead by example.

If our team and culture resonate with your values, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

The DMT program focuses on four strategic areas: (i) store performance, (ii) operational knowledge, (iii) leadership and management, and (iv) real-life application of skills. Graduates of the program may oversee a territory of stores as a District Manager, with relocation being essential.

Initially, the DMT will operate as a General Manager (GM) to understand CubeSmart’s processes and culture. Responsibilities as a GM include:

  • Deliver the “WOW!” service model and interact with customers and sales leads regularly, both over the phone and in person.
  • Sell merchandise including packing/moving supplies, locks, and insurance products.
  • Manage daily store operations and maintenance, including POS system use, space audits, store cleanliness, budgeting, coordinating auctions, producing reports, and performing light repairs.
  • Support store employees to improve sales, service, and operational effectiveness.
  • Participate in monthly P&L reviews with the District Manager and store team.
Qualifications

This role is suited for ambitious, career-driven individuals with a strong work ethic, high standards, ethical values, and a customer-first mindset. Requirements include:

  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible employment, preferably in service-related industries.
  • Proven leadership, development, and coaching skills; supervisory experience preferred.
  • A four-year degree in business or related field is preferred; an associate’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • Experience growing revenue and managing budgets/P&L of at least $1 million annually.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and handle interruptions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility for travel and overnight stays across multiple locations.
  • Willingness and ability to relocate regionally within 12 months (relocation assistance provided).

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, welcoming minorities, females, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and those of diverse gender identities and sexual orientations.
