Title: District Manager (DM)

Position Summary

To oversee operations for multiple locations in an area, drive profitability, sales growth, and provide leadership and controlling cost and expenses. Responsibilities include recruiting and training store managers, conducting site visits to ensure safety/cleanliness standards, monitoring P&L reports, and implementing marketing strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leadership: To provide direction, instruction and guidance in the development of management teams. Oversee daily operations, including food service, fuel management, hiring, and store appearance to ensure company standards are met. Instill confidence in management teams to enhance decision making at store level.
  • Communication: Maintain an open line of communication with all levels of employees. Be able to counsel and support other members of management when needed.
    • Customer Service – maintain customer service atmosphere, inquiries and resolving complaints.
    • Stimulate creative, innovative ideas that will amplify each customer’s shopping experience.
    • Ensure Programs are being promoted (Club Citgo, MDA, Etc.)
  • Operational: Ensure all stores comply with company policies, safety procedures, and government regulations. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and customer service.
  • Financial Performance: Maximize profitability by analyzing P&L statements, controlling expenses (labor, inventory, cash variance), and achieving sales targets.
  • Personnel Management: Hire, train, develop, and discipline store managers. Ensure all "Class C" training has been done in a timely manner. Drive a high-performance culture and ensure proper staffing levels.
  • Store visits & Audits: Conduct regular visits to evaluate store conditions, attend all 3rd party Inventory audit, monthly conduct so a cash/other audit and identify opportunities for improvement. (Night rides, Store audits, etc.)
  • Store Controllables: Analyze cash control/lottery, payroll, Other Expenses to ensure it is under control and not creating a loss for the company.
  • Compliance & Safety: Evaluate cleanliness and review all safety protocols, including hazardous material handling and food safety standards. In addition, ensure compliance with labor laws, and alcohol/tobacco sales regulations. Will serve on the safety committee as a member.
  • Merchandising: Evaluate the merchandising at each location, ensure that shippers are maintained and properly displayed also suggest ideas to meet the needs of the surrounding community.
  • Asset Protection: Investigate inventory/cash shrinkage to prevent losses from theft or errors, check that all company assets are always secure to help prevent any additional losses to the company.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience: Proven experience as a District Manager, Area Manager, or multi-unit manager in retail or C-Store environment.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with ability to lead, motivate, and mentor store managers.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills for interacting with employees, vendors/customers, and senior management. Skills include speaking, writing and listening to be able to do presentations and hold meetings.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills to manage scheduled and impromptu tasks. as they occur. Managing time on planning and prioritizing workloads, short term and long term.
  • Analytical: Proficiency in reviewing financial reports and budgeting. Ability to make relevant conclusions based on analyzed data.
  • Technical Skills: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, calculator, PDI Enterprise are some of the software packaged used in business.
Job Requirements
  • Must be available after hours to address store emergencies and oversee operations.
  • Must be able to drive extended periods of time between locations frequently and work flexible hours to monitor and support store needs, Driving could be as much as 8 hours in one day due to regional locations.
  • Must be able to include overnight stays.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods (8 hours), work in varying temperatures, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb, stoop, walk, kneel, lift carry, reach, push, pull.
  • Must be available to respond to disaster situation and able to make immediate decisions.
  • Must have a valid driver license with an insurable driving record and authorize a MVR to be done annually.
