  • Develop and maintain a management style conducive to achieving results through positive staff motivation.
  • Analyze stock mix across stores and make edits to maximize sales.
  • Use data/reports from corporate for stock levels, matrices, and profit/loss statements.
  • Develop budgets and monitor controllable expenses; enforce loss prevention policies.
  • Maintain high housekeeping and aesthetic standards across the district stores.

Job description

Cato is seeking an experienced District Manager for the Montgomery, AL market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for achieving the sales goals for the district collectively and for each individual store.
  • Constantly strives to improve multiple selling techniques in merchandise presentation and staff selling.
  • Talent Management
    • Conducts in depth interviews in order to recruit and hire high quality management Associates who meet the qualitative standards of the company.
    • Enforces all personnel practices to comply with local, state and federal requirements, as well as company policies.
    • Develops and maintains a management style conducive to achieving results through positive motivation of staff in all areas of accountability.
  • Responsible for analysis and suggestions for editing additions and fine tuning individual store stock mix to maximize sales.
  • Continually analyzes each store within its market and develops action plans to maximize results.
  • Administrative Management
    • Understands and utilizes data and reports as distributed by corporate office regarding stock level analysis, matrices, profit/loss statements, etc.
    • Adheres to all company policies and procedures as defined in manuals; ensure all store Associates also follow defined company policies and procedures.
  • Expense Control
    • Assumes an active role in the development of budgets in the controllable areas.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Loss Prevention policies, procedures and programs.
  • Store Maintenance
    • Ensures excellent standards for housekeeping and aesthetics are maintained throughout the entire district and each store.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
