Job summary

This position involves maintaining confidential student information and providing unbiased support during interactions. Compensation is set at $25/hour, with work on an on-call basis.

Job description

The program will support families as they engage in their current school’s experience as well as exposing them to higher education opportunities.

The Cedar Rapids School District is seeking staff to interpret during conferences, individual education plans (IEPs), and in other forms of communication between the school and families. Expectations include, but are not limited to, being fluent in the following languages:

• Pohnpeian
• Haitian Creole
• Nepali
• Kirundi/Kinyarwanda
• Other dialects as may be required

Term

TBD, on an "on-call" basis

Qualifications

• Ability to speak more than one language is preferred.
• Communicates with parents/guardians in a supportive and positive manner.
• Communicates and collaborates with the building administrator and classroom teachers.
• Maintains and protects the confidentiality of students’ academic and social performance.
• Remains impartial and unbiased and refrains from conduct that may give the appearance of bias.
• Maintains a professional demeanor, is courteous and respectful to all parties, and defers to instructions from educators.
