Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries seeks a qualified District Forester to manage our timberlands across Lewis, Pacific, Thurston, and Cowlitz counties, based in Centralia, Washington. The role emphasizes silviculture program leadership, reforestation, and collaboration with regulatory agencies.

You will develop budgets, assist with harvest planning, and maintain critical databases while working in both remote field locations and district office environments.

Qualifications

• 3 years of silviculture experience in the Pacific Northwest.
• Bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, or related field.
• Understanding of silvicultural practices and cost considerations.
• Experience with Washington forest practice rules.
• Valid Washington driver’s license.
• Ability to drive hazardous mountain roads.
• Proficiency with Word, Outlook, Excel, and ArcGIS.
• Excellent organization and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the silviculture program including reforestation.
• Assist with budgets and forecasts for silviculture.
• Support timber harvest programming and permitting.
• Coordinate with state agencies and diverse groups.
• Maintain documentation and data related to reforestation.
• Work independently in remote areas and in teams.
• Perform field forestry tasks using maps, compass or GPS.
