Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries is hiring a District Forester in Burney, California to manage timberlands across Shasta, Lassen, Modoc and Siskiyou counties. The role requires THP prep, contract oversight, and surveys, with fieldwork in diverse conditions.

The successful candidate will collaborate with regulatory agencies and reforestation efforts, working both independently and in a team within a large, vertically integrated forestry operation. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• California Registered Professional Forester (RPF) license required or ability to qualify.
• Familiarity with California Forest Practice Rules and THP preparation.
• Understanding of logging, road construction, and reforestation operations.
• Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, and strong work ethic.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and GIS-based software programs.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Current valid driver’s license and ability to operate a four-wheel drive vehicle on forest roads.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Timber Harvest Plans (THPs) including research, fieldwork, mapping, and writing.
• Administer contracts for field operations including logging and road construction.
• Conduct botanical, wildlife, archeological, road, and watercourse surveys.
• Collaborate in reforestation activities, including planting and site prep.
• Interact with state regulatory agencies and diverse groups.
• Perform forestry project work in various weather and terrain.
