MCHENRY COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 15 is seeking a District Floating School Nurse to provide medical care, maintain health records, and support student health needs during the school day. The role will collaborate with health services and educational staff to ensure student well-being.

The candidate must hold an Illinois nursing license or School Nurse endorsement, with a Bachelor's degree; CPR instructor certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Immediately administer to students who are ill or injured.
• Apply knowledge of clinical nursing, assessment, and first aid.
• Perform skilled nursing procedures and emergency care as needed per board policies.
• Maintain student health records per District 15 procedures and state requirements.
• Compile data on acuity levels of students for health services reporting.
• Develop and maintain health care plans for students needing nursing interventions.
• Collaborate with special education to address health needs and IEPs.
• Consult with parents, medical practitioners, and staff on student health limits.

CERTIFICATION Current and Valid Illinois Professional Educator License or

START DATE: ASAP

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS

• Current and Valid Illinois Certified School Nurse Endorsement or valid nursing license in Illinois.
• Bachelor's Degree and Registered Nursing License.
• CPR Instructor certification and vision/hearing instructor certification preferred.
• Understanding of health service policies and procedures.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
• Able to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Immediately administer to students who are ill or injured.
• Apply knowledge of current principles and practice of clinical nursing, assessment, and first aid.
• Perform skilled nursing procedures and emergency care as needed in accordance with board policies.
• Maintain student health records according to District 15 procedures ensuring compliance with state and district requirements.
• Compile statistical data of the acuity level of the student population to submit to the Director of Health Services.
• Develops and maintains current health care plans for students who need nursing interventions during the school day.
• Collaborates with the special education department to resolve special health needs of students and to participate in Individual Education Plan's concerning students with special needs.
• Consult with parents, medical practitioners and school personnel to gain an understanding of student health limitations and facilitate adjustment to any physical, mental or social needs.
• Perform such other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the building Principal.
