QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid, current, and unencumbered license to practice in the State of South Carolina.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional nursing experience.
  • Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • BLS/Heartsaver Instructor certification preferred. Must be willing and able to obtain BLS/Heartsaver Instructor certification within a specified timeframe if not already certified.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Strong assessment, communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with students, families, and school personnel.
  • Flexibility to work at different school locations and respond to changing staffing needs

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide nursing coverage at assigned schools based on staffing needs, including traveling between school locations and adapting to varying school environments and student needs.
  • Assess and respond to student illnesses, injuries, and health concerns.
  • Administer medications and treatments as authorized.
  • Monitor students with chronic health conditions and develop or follow individualized health plans.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student health records and documentation.
  • Communicate appropriately with parents/guardians, school administrators, teachers, and healthcare providers regarding student health needs.
  • Conduct health screenings and assist with immunization and compliance requirements.
  • Promote health education, disease prevention, hygiene, and wellness among students.
  • Follow school district policies, state nursing regulations, and applicable health and safety requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Physical Requirements: This position may require prolonged standing and walking, assisting students with mobility or medical needs, and the ability to respond quickly to emergencies.

Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items including computer keyboards, office equipment, control knobs, switches, etc. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
