Job summary

Chico Independent School District is seeking a motivated Business Manager to direct and manage the district’s business operations, including budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and tax collection.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or educational administration and at least three years in school business management or a related public organization. Strong analytic, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business-related field or educational administration or work related business certification(s).
• 3+ years experience in school business management or public organization.
• Knowledge of budgeting, accounting systems, and payroll processing.
• Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets and perform data analysis.
• Ability to interpret data and manage budget and personnel.
• Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of the budget and development of long- and short-range objectives for the district’s business operations.
• Ensure that accounting systems comply with applicable laws and regulations including the TEA Financial Accounting Manual.
• Administer the district’s budget and ensure cost-effective operations; prepare budget adjustments as needed.
• Assist auditors in conducting periodic audits.
• Evaluate accounting procedures, systems, and controls and recommend improvements.
• Determine cash available for investment and payment of bills based on daily cash flow analysis.
• Oversee monthly bank reconciliations and vendor/payroll clearing accounts.
• Project enrollments, staffing, facilities, energy, equipment needs for district and schools.
• Plan and conduct needs assessments to improve district business operations.
