Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 in Elgin, IL is seeking an Environmental and Sustainability Specialist to plan, coordinate, and manage multi-disciplinary environmental health, life safety and energy projects across the district.

You will conduct onsite energy audits, identify efficiency opportunities, prepare reports with cost-saving recommendations, manage incentive applications, and support BAS and SDS initiatives while collaborating with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Excellent computer skills with MS Office and Google Suite.
• Valid Illinois driver's license required.
• Experience in energy, environmental, or HVAC projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete onsite energy audits of district buildings.
• Identify opportunities to improve operation, maintenance, or energy efficiency.
• Prepare audit reports with energy cost savings recommendations.
• Manage incentive applications and district reimbursements.
• Analyze utility records and track energy usage trends.
• Develop and manage energy conservation measures; train district staff.
• Coordinate BAS schedules and energy tracking software initiatives.
• Respond to environmental/safety incidents and assist coordinators as needed.
