Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a part-time Elementary PE Specialist (0.6 FTE) for the 2026-2027 school year. The position requires a valid WA State teaching certificate with a PE/Health or Elementary Education K-8 endorsement and entails providing diverse learning activities across Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

The role includes planning, assessment, and collaboration to support student growth. Expected start as soon as possible, with benefits and a 182 workday, 10-month calendar.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with appropriate educational endorsement.
• Valid Washington State teaching certificate with PE/Health and Fitness or Elementary Education K-8 endorsement.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate activities; maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Develops, plans and strategizes a program of study based on learning needs and creates a conducive classroom environment.
• Assesses student growth and provides progress reports; maintains grades and refers students for evaluation as needed.
• Implements district instructional goals; supports curriculum and policy adoption; manages classroom behavior.
• Develops lesson plans with differentiated instruction and clear learning targets; aligns materials to goals.
• Maintains open communication with students, parents, colleagues and community members; conducts conferences.
• Maintains accurate records and uses assessment data to inform instruction and track growth.
• Ensures safety and supervision of students; utilizes district resources to enhance learning.
