TITLE OF POSITION: District Curriculum Teacher Leader (Secondary)
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: Deputy Superintendent of Secondary Education
LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 10 Months
TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Michigan Teaching certificate.
- Three or more years of successful secondary teaching, instructional coaching, or teacher leadership experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of the PLC (Professional Learning Communities) process.
- Demonstrated experience in collaborating with adult learners and facilitating professional development.
- Demonstrated experience in working with diverse student populations, including Economically Disadvantaged, English Language Learners, and Special Needs students.
- Demonstrated knowledge of research-based best practices, secondary standards, MTSS frameworks, and CTE programming.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, organizing cross-district initiatives, and coordinating multi-stakeholder meetings.
- Proven ability to analyze secondary attendance data and support student intervention and retention strategies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Deputy Superintendent of Secondary Education in creating and updating operational guidelines based on federal, state, and local policies.
- Lead the overhaul, alignment, and implementation of a revamped secondary Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.
- Collaborate with school and district leadership to drive Career and Technical Education (CTE) program expansion and student enrollment.
- Analyze secondary attendance issues and collaborate with administrators to establish targeted intervention strategies.
- Research, model, and integrate instructional innovation, technology applications, and modern learning strategies across secondary classrooms.
- Build and cultivate strategic post-secondary relationships to expand dual enrollment, internships, and career opportunities for students.
- Manage and oversee large-scale secondary projects across the district, tracking deliverables, timelines, and outcomes.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate cross-functional district meetings, committees, and working groups with internal and external stakeholders.
- Create executive presentations, reports, and communications for leadership, board members, staff, and community partners.
- Support building instructional coaches and secondary teacher leaders in sustaining effective PLC processes and curriculum alignment.
- Model and co-teach effective evidence-based instructional strategies and assessment techniques in secondary classrooms.
- Assist in analyzing assessment data to monitor student progress and close achievement gaps across secondary sites.
- Perform other secondary curriculum, instruction, technology, and administrative duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent of Secondary Education.
