Job Summary
Instructional coaches at the district level supporting schools are monitored and directed by the Directors within the Teaching and Learning department. They provide direct support to classroom teachers to ensure all students meet or exceed academic expectations in literacy, numeracy, and writing.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide ongoing support for teachers in implementing district curricula.
- Ensure adherence to the District's Strategic Priorities.
- Implement initiatives to accelerate student achievement and foster a positive climate supporting student success.
- Support teachers by coaching and modeling high-yield instructional strategies.
- Collaborate with district teams and school administrators to establish and monitor high standards.
- Use qualitative and quantitative data to assess performance and inform goals and decisions.
- Assist in data collection and reporting to evaluate instructional programs.
- Analyze data with district school leaders to guide decision-making.
- Engage staff in decision-making processes impacting student success.
- Utilize the district PLC planning process and framework.
- Identify potential issues and proactively implement solutions.
- Participate in team-based efforts to create positive learning environments.
- Engage in professional learning opportunities and support district and school improvement plans.
- Maintain records of support provided and monitor effectiveness.
- Demonstrate ability or willingness to communicate in more than one language at a novice level.
- Perform other duties as assigned and maintain regular attendance.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Master's Degree (required)
- Experience in improving student achievement, especially in underperforming populations
- Strong curriculum knowledge, including literacy and mathematics strategies
- Deep understanding of literacy and numeracy, with experience designing and implementing instructional strategies for diverse learners, including English Language Learners and students with special needs
- Experience facilitating Professional Learning Communities and coaching
Licenses or Certifications:
- Kentucky Teaching Certification (required or eligible)
- Kentucky Supervisor of Instruction Certification or eligible for a consultant endorsement
