Job Overview
The distributor operator ensures safety and operates equipment such as a distributor, rollers, power broom, tamps, and bobcat. Responsibilities include shoveling asphalt, general cleanup, maintaining records of material/equipment usage, performing daily maintenance checks, reporting issues, and minor repairs. Requires a Class B CDL with tank endorsement and the ability to work extended hours in various weather conditions and loud environments.
Essential Functions
- Operate and maintain asphalt distributor truck, ensuring proper application rates and consistent coverage.
- Calibrate and adjust spray bar settings for various asphalt mixes and job specifications.
- Communicate effectively with paving crew members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Monitor and manage asphalt material levels in the distributor truck.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating the truck on public roadways and job sites.

Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Class B CDL with tank endorsement is required.
Experience
- Paving experience preferred.

- Proficient in operating heavy equipment, specifically asphalt distributor trucks.
- Ability to understand and interpret plans, specifications, and safety guidelines.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Mechanical aptitude for minor equipment repairs and troubleshooting.
Other Requirements
- Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
