Job Summary
The Underground (UG) Distribution Foremanis an experienced and safety-orientedrole that leads and supervises underground electric utility crews. This role is critical in ensuring field operations run efficiently, safely, and according to schedule. The Distribution Foreman will bring leadership, underground utility knowledge, and a strong work ethic to support our growing infrastructure projects.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision and technical guidance to Linemen, Apprentices, and Groundmen
- Coordinate all on-site operations, includingcrew mobilization, work planning, and equipment setup
- Ensuresafetyprotocolsarecommunicated, understood, and enforced at all times
- Managematerials, tools, andequipmentrequiredfor daily operations
- Read and interpretsite plans, electrical drawings, blueprints, andscopes of work
- Communicate effectively with Construction Managers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders
- Oversee adherence to project schedules and assist inplanning and budgeting
- Utilize or be open to learningdigital tools and mobiletechnologyforjob site efficiency
- Maintain a strong emphasis oncustomer satisfaction, productivity, and crew morale
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience leadingunderground utility distribution crews is required
- Groundwork experience in utility construction is essential
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems and construction practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and utility specifications
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Comfortable collaborating with all levels of the organization
- Must be willing to:
- Travel long distances on short notice
- Work extended hours, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
- Work outdoors inall weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain
- Must pass abackground check,drug and & alcohol screening, clearinghouse, and MVR check
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred
Physical Requirements
- Must be able tolift and carry up to 50 poundsregularly
- Must be able toclimb poles and structuresusing proper climbing gear for extended periods
- Frequent physical activities includestanding, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
- Ability to performrepetitive hand and arm movementsand operate hand tools and mechanical equipment
- Work involvesexposure to high-voltage systems, confined spaces, heights, and noisy environments
- Must haveclose visual acuityto perform detailed inspections and tasks
- Ability towork at elevated heightsand in proximity to energized equipment using required PPE
- Must be physically fit to performpole-top rescue operations and emergency response activities
Working Conditions
- Work is conducted outdoors inall types of weather, including inclement conditions
- Subject to hazardous conditions typical in electrical utility environments
- Must be flexible to travel to various job sites and remain on location for extended periods when needed
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times
