Job summary

The Community Blood Center seeks a Distribution Technician to support processing, labeling, storage and distribution of blood components. The full-time role runs on the 3rd shift, Tuesday-Friday, from 10:30 p.m.

to 8:30 a.m., with initial morning training hours during onboarding. Ideal candidates will have a high school education, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work in a controlled lab environment with safety requirements.

Qualifications

High School education or equivalency required.
Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Prepare high quality components in a timely and efficient manner.
Recheck own work for accuracy and perform peer reviews of component and equipment records.
Filter, store, label, ship, and irradiate blood components as applicable.
Prepare recovered components for shipment.
Perform required equipment maintenance and QC on a timely basis.
Practice proper customer service skills for internal and external customers.
May deliver blood to local customers on an as-needed emergency basis.
Monitor and evaluate temperature recording devices.
Verify component inventories as directed by CBC SOPs.
Accurately enter data into the computer system.
Assist in training new staff or procedures as needed.
Maintain neat, clean work area and professional appearance.
Separate and package biohazard waste properly.
Use materials and equipment economically and safely.
Comply with CBC policies and SOPs and directives.
Maintain current job-related skills via training and reading publications.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the performance of a variety of laboratory functions involved in the processing, preparation, labeling, storage and Distribution Of Blood Components And Non-blood Components. SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position working 3rd shift, Tuesday-Friday from 10:30 p.m. - 8:30 a.m.

TRAINING

Initial training will take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. for the first 46 weeks to ensure successful onboarding and a smooth transition into the position.

After training is completed, the employee will transition to the 2nd Shift Schedule Listed Above.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Prepares high quality components in a timely and efficient manner.

14. Accountable for the economical use of materials and the proper use of equipment while performing duties and responsibilities.
15. Complies with all policies and procedures as outlined in the CBC Employee Handbook, CBC SOPs, or directives.
16. Maintains current level of job-related skills by attending inservices and training sessions and reading publications.

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Employee may occasionally be required to lift objects or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
