Job summary

PSEG seeks a first-level supervisor in the Electric Division (PSE&G) to lead vegetation management for transmission and distribution. You may work at an alternate location during storm/restoration and report to a supervisor as needed.

As a supervisor, you will coach teams, ensure safety, oversee construction vegetation activities, and participate in emergency response. The role requires ISA credentials, a valid U.S. driver’s license, and proficiency with Excel, Ariba, Outlook and SAP.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in vegetation line clearance.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental compliance requirements.
  • Safety sensitive position. DOT testing required.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
  • ISA Certified Arborist and ISA Utility Specialist credentials required.
  • Advanced arboriculture education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Vegetation Management–related construction in transmission and distribution facilities.
  • Assist in emergency restoration efforts and coordinate vendor resources.
  • Train and develop personnel; promote safety principles.
  • Assign and direct work to achieve efficient results; handle call-out assignments.
  • May be required to work outside normal hours and offshore duties.

Job Summary

At this time, only current PSEG employees are being considered.

This is a first level supervisory position in the Electric Division. This is a PSE&G position and as such may be required to perform functions different from normal operations and work schedule during storm/outage restoration efforts. Reporting to an alternate work location may also be required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Achieve the desired results of the Electric Transmission and Distribution Organization (Vegetation Management) utilizing PSEG values and tools, sound management practices and skills, as well as a total commitment to teamwork.
  • Assist requesting divisions in emergency restoration efforts during “routine”, minor and major events. Oversee the activities of Vegetation Management associates (PSE&G and Vendor Resources) to ensure safe and efficient vegetation related activities outside plant facilities.
  • Supervise the vegetation management aspects of construction of outside plant electric transmission and distribution facilities.
  • Assist in the training and development of personnel. Promote safety principles.
  • Counsel associates, as required. Assign and direct work to accomplish the desired results in ashame, efficient, and expeditious manner.
  • Accept call out assignments.
  • Must be willing to respond outside of normal hours.
  • Ability to layout/supervise the work offshore.
  • Ability to train/instruct personnel in work practices and use of tools and equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable portions of Company/Union agreement.
  • Must exhibit ability to recognize unusual conditions and take corrective action.
  • As an employee of PSE&G, during storm/outage restoration efforts, may be required to perform functions different from normal operations and the regular work schedule.May also be required to work in an alternate location.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the maintenance and oversight of Distribution and/or Transmission vegetation line clearance activities.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental compliance requirements.
  • Safety sensitive position. D.O.T. testing required.
  • Because the job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, must have a valid U. S. driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must have ISA Certified Arborist & ISA Utility Specialist.
  • Must obtain an acceptable score on the First Line Supervisor's Test (FLST) unless presently an internal employee and directly supervising (i.e., responsible for performance review) union, operating department/represented associates for a minimum of 12 continuous months. For those who have previously taken and received an acceptable score on the FLST but who are not presently and directly supervising represented associates, test results will be valid for a maximum period of two years from the date the test was taken. Acceptable test results exceeding the two-year period (for those applicants not presently and directly supervising represented associates) cannot be used in bidding on or applying for a first line supervisory position for which the test was validated.
  • Advanced education involving Arboriculture and/or related experience.
  • Practicable knowledgeable regarding individual plant species and growth rates
  • Well versed with Excel, Ariba, Outlook and SAP
  • Ability to embrace and utilize evolving industry technologies
