Job summary

BD in Plainfield, IN is seeking a Distribution Supervisor to oversee shipments, inventory control, and staff scheduling in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role requires coordinating with internal units to meet customer expectations and applying strong leadership to optimize daily operations.

You will drive process improvements, enforce compliance with SOPs, and mentor associates while supporting a safe and efficient work culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; or
  • Associate degree and 2+ years related experience; or
  • High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years related work experience, required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years supervisory experience in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures timely and accurate shipments of orders by running assigned business area efficiently, effectively, and safely.
  • Effectively utilizes and ensures compliance with BD’s inventory control and warehouse management systems.
  • Leverages metrics and analytics to report on progress (i.e., cost per case/line shipped, site budgeted distribution center expense as a percent of sales, inventory, etc.).
  • Work with internal Business Unit clients to ensure alignment in meeting customer expectations.
  • Ensures departmental procedures, SOPs, and work instructions are updated and training provided to associates as required. Ensures all associates follow C2C training guidelines.
  • Plans work schedules and assigns duties to maintain adequate staffing levels; ensures activities are performed effectively and manages fluctuating workloads.
  • Recommends or initiates personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, and disciplinary measures; resolves personnel problems and complaints or refers them to higher-level management for resolution.
  • Conducts staff meetings to relay general information or to address specific topics such as safety, quality, policy changes, etc.
  • Responsible for following and monitoring/correcting associates in Good Documentation Practices (GDP) as outlined in the SOP’s and work instructions.
  • Ensures safety first environment and adherence to proper operating practices and procedures designed to prevent injuries and illnesses.
  • Must be able to work a flexible shift and weekends as business requirements dictate.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred; or
  • Associate degree and 2+ years related experience; or
  • High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years related work experience, required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years supervisory experience in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Operational experience in FDA, OSHA, GMP/QSR (QMS?) compliance, CPIM, Logistics or Distribution, Process Excellence, Lean and ISO.
  • Must have knowledge of inventory and warehouse management systems, i.e., JDE, High Jump and MFG-Pro systems.
  • Knowledge of inventory control techniques.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong people leadership including developing, coaching, listening, collaborating, and delegating.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to critically review, analyze, compare, and interpret information and apply this when solving problems.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments at all levels.

The associate may occasionally be required to climb. The job may require lifting over 50lbs in some areas but not all. Associate must have normal field of vision corrected to 20/40 in each eye and must have hearing sufficient to safely operate MHE (Material Handling Equipment) in a manufacturing/distribution environment.

Work Environment

The noise level is moderate to loud. There will almost always be exposure to work near moving mechanical equipment, exposure to precarious situations and potential temperature excursions. Occasionally the position will have exposure to fumes/airborne particles.

Shift: 6:00am-2:30pm M-F (United States of America)
