Job summary

Veritiv seeks a skilled Supervisor to plan, direct and monitor daily operations for a distribution team in Lakeland, FL. You will contribute to leadership initiatives, focus on accuracy, customer service and achievement of financial goals, and participate in business strategy development related to distribution support.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of successful supervisory/management experience.
  • Knowledge of warehouse, delivery and traffic operations within a distribution setting.
  • Ability to motivate the team, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze warehouse metrics and prepare reports and inventory control documents using Microsoft Office and existing systems.
  • Ensure the highest level of customer service and develop methods to improve service quality for employees, vendors and suppliers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and optimize cost effectiveness.
  • Maintain a culture of safety aligned with HS&E policies and mitigate environmental risks.
  • Monitor and adjust employee schedules/workloads to boost efficiency and meet priorities.
  • Participate in the hiring process and management of distribution center staff.
  • Supervise and lead a team; ensure goods are shipped, received, stored and recorded accurately following procedures.

Job Purpose

The Supervisor will plan, direct and monitor the day to day operational activities for a team to ensure a competitive service advantage is achieved by maintaining a high degree of accuracy and customer service. This position will assist the facility in exceeding their financial and strategic goals by playing an active role on the leadership team. May also participate in the development and execution of business strategies with an understanding of the requirements for an effective distribution support team.

This position will assist the facility in exceeding their financial and strategic goals by playing an active role on the leadership team. Job Responsibilities

Analyze the warehouse metrics and prepare reports and inventory control documents using Microsoft Office and existing systems., Ensure the highest level of customer service is being executed and develop methods to improve the quality of service for all employees, vendors and suppliers., Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and optimize cost effectiveness., Maintain a culture of safety that follows the organization's Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) policies to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to oneself and others in the workplace. Instruct the team in safe working methods and elevate serious issues as appropriate., Monitor and adjust employee schedules and workloads to enhance efficiencies and ensure high-priority tasks are achieved., Motivate and hold the team accountable for achieving local and company goals., Participate in the hiring process and management of distribution center staff., Perform additional duties as required., Prioritize own workflow and ensure work is completed to the required standards and regulatory codes of productivity, quality and timeliness; use performance management systems to improve personal performance., Supervise and lead a team., Supervise various distribution center tasks to ensure all goods and supplies are shipped, received, stored and recorded accurately following established procedures.

All other job duties as assigned.

Work Experience

5+ years of successful supervisory/management experience requiredty to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.

  • Sound experience and understanding of straightforward procedures or systems. A thorough understanding of warehouse, delivery and traffic operations within a distribution setting, as well as government regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA, HazMat, etc.). Ability to motivate the team, manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
Education
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • High School Diploma/GED Preferred
