Job summary

Veritiv is seeking a Distribution Supervisor in Grand Prairie, TX to oversee day-to-day warehouse distribution operations. You will supervise safety, quality and productivity, manage receiving and put-away, and organize shift staffing to meet targets.

This role requires 3–5 years of supervisory experience, strong problem-solving skills, and a focus on safety. The position involves non-climate-controlled warehouse work and travel up to 10% of the time.

Job description

Job Purpose

Our Distribution Supervisor will be responsible for the division’s day-to-day warehouse distribution operations and activities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee safety, quality and productivity of warehouse operations.
  • Review loading and receiving processes to minimize errors.
  • Oversee receiving, put-a-way, replenishment, picking, loading and housekeeping.
  • Organize, identify and tag products that is stored in the division's warehouse.
  • Maintain superior housekeeping standards.
  • Review warehouse space requirements and what type of new material handling and communication equipment is on the market that may improve efficiency.
  • Embed a safety first culture; Communicate and enforce EHS policies and procedures.
  • Review forklift and warehouse equipment, on a daily basis, ensuring industrial machines and/or equipment meet minimum safety standards. Recommend repairs and adhere to lock out tag out protocols when needed.
  • Coach, mentor and train coworkers as required to achieve established goals.
  • Organize shift and workforce scheduling.
  • Master all business systems relevant to the warehouse operation and provide leadership with recommendation for improvements.
Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • Must be able to work 7:00PM until finish Monday through Friday

Proven knowledge of warehouse policies and procedure.

  • Able to add, subtract, multiple, and divide.
  • Able to work with all levels of staff.
  • Travel Requirement: 0-10 %
Work Experience
  • 3-5 years of related experience of successful supervisory/management experience required to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.
  • 3-5 years of related job experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail skills are required.
Education
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Bachelor\'s Degree Preferred
Working Conditions

The work environment for this position requires:

  • Regularly working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse where exposure to cold, heat, damp or humid conditions may occur.
  • Exposure to loud noise.
  • Exposure to dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and moving vehicles.
Physical Requirements

The physical requirements listed below are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Ability to lift, twist and carry up 50 - 75 pounds, manipulate (push and pull) up to 160 pounds of product with material handling equipment and skids weighing up to 2,000 pounds utilizing pallet jack.
  • Walking/Standing - walk throughout the warehouse to complete customer orders. Stand when operating order picker or reach truck equipment and when operating cutter.
  • Sitting - sit only when driving sit-down material handling equipment.
  • Lifting - lift items weighing a few ounces up to 150 pounds with assistance .
  • Stooping - performed when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations. May bend at the waist.
  • Kneeling - kneel when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations.
