Job summary

Responsibilities

• Provide direct hands-on leadership for daily distribution center operations (receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, inventory).

The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for leading daily warehouse and fulfillment operations while supporting the Operations Manager in achieving safety, service, productivity, inventory, and operational goals.This is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility across receiving, put-away, material movement, order fulfillment, picking and packing, shipping, transfer orders, inventory control, warehouse organization, safety, staffing, training, and associate performance.The ideal candidate has previous experience directly supervising warehouse or fulfillment associates, managing daily labor and workflow, holding teams accountable to productivity and accuracy expectations, and using operational KPIs to drive performance.As part of a new distribution facility, the Distribution Supervisor will also play a key role in startup and stabilization efforts by establishing effective processes, developing standard operating procedures, building a strong safety and training culture, customer orders must ship accurately and on time.Roles and ResponsibilitiesProvide direct, hands-on leadership for daily distribution center operations, including receiving, put-away, material movement, order picking, packing, shipping, transfers, replenishment, and inventory activities.Lead warehouse associates throughout the shift by setting clear expectations for safety, productivity, quality, accuracy, attendance, and customer service.Coordinate daily workflow and fulfillment priorities to ensure customer orders are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.Develop daily staffing and labor plans based on inbound volume, outbound demand, order backlog, staffing availability, and operational priorities.Reallocate labor and adjust priorities throughout the shift as volume and operating conditions change.Monitor individual and team productivity and provide real-time coaching and direction when performance is below expectations.Participate in the startup and stabilization of a new distribution facility by helping establish SOPs, warehouse organization, material flow, productivity expectations, safety standards, and associate training programs.Maintain accurate inventory records and transactions using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), NetSuite, RF-Smart, and other applicable systems.Ensure receiving, transfer, shipping, and inventory transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner.Support and enforce inventory control processes, including cycle counting, physical inventories, location accuracy, product returns, inventory adjustments, discrepancy investigations, and proper warehouse transaction discipline.Monitor warehouse productivity and operational KPIs, identify performance gaps, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency, quality, service, safety, and cost performance.Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, proper material flow, and effective space utilization throughout the facility.Assist with employee scheduling, attendance tracking, and labor planning to meet daily operational demands.Provide direct leadership to warehouse associates by setting expectations, monitoring performance, providing coaching and feedback, addressing attendance and performance issues, and partnering with the Operations Manager and Human Resources when corrective action is required.Train, mentor, and develop warehouse associates to improve performance, reinforce standard work, and build stronger operational capabilities.Conduct daily shift-start meetings to communicate safety topics, workload, priorities, staffing assignments, productivity expectations, and operational issues.Maintain a strong, visible presence on the distribution center floor and actively manage operations throughout the shift rather than supervising primarily from an office.Enforce company safety policies, OSHA requirements, quality standards, and established operating procedures while promoting a strong safety culture.Lead root-cause investigations involving inventory discrepancies, shipping and receiving errors, damages, productivity issues, fulfillment errors, and other operational failures.Implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce recurring operational problems.Troubleshoot operational issues and make sound, timely decisions to minimize disruptions and maintain workflow.Work closely with Customer Service, Purchasing, Sales, and Transportation to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.Assist with warehouse equipment inspections and coordinate facility maintenance needs.Prepare operational reports and communicate daily performance, staffing, issues, and opportunities to the Operations Manager.Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity, quality, inventory accuracy, safety, organization, and efficiency.Assist with developing, documenting, implementing, and maintaining SOPs, work instructions, training materials, and operational standards.Ensure associates are properly trained and consistently follow established standard work.Serve as the acting distribution center leader in the absence of the Operations Manager.Required Experience & Qualifications5+ years of warehouse, distribution center, or fulfillment center leadership experience preferred.Previous experience directly supervising warehouse or fulfillment associates in a fast-paced operational environment.Strong understanding of order fulfillment, receiving, picking, packing, shipping, replenishment, material movement, and inventory control.Demonstrated experience managing daily workflow, staffing, labor allocation, and operational priorities.Experience establishing and monitoring warehouse KPIs, productivity standards, accuracy expectations, and performance goals.Proven ability to coach employees, address performance issues, reinforce accountability, and develop warehouse associates.Strong knowledge of warehouse safety practices and the ability to build and reinforce a safety-focused culture.Experience with cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory discrepancies, and warehouse transaction accuracy.Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.Ability to make timely decisions in a fast-moving distribution environment.Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.Comfortable spending the majority of the workday actively leading operations on the warehouse floor.Experience using a WMS, ERP, RF scanning, or similar distribution/warehouse technology.Preferred Qualifications5+ years of distribution center, fulfillment center, or high-volume warehouse experience.Experience leading warehouse teams in an order-fulfillment or distribution operation with measurable daily productivity and service expectations.Previous leadership responsibility for multiple warehouse functions such as inbound, outbound, fulfillment, shipping, receiving, inventory, and replenishment.Experience with NetSuite, RF-Smart, WMS platforms, RF scanners, or similar warehouse systems.Experience implementing Lean, 5S, standard work, visual management, root-cause analysis, or other continuous improvement methodologies.Experience helping launch, expand, reorganize, or stabilize a warehouse or distribution center.Experience developing SOPs, training programs, productivity standards, or warehouse processes.Forklift and powered industrial equipment experience is a plus.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods while actively supervising warehouse operations.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment or obtain
