Job summary

CFI Tire in Des Moines, IA, seeks a CDL driver to operate a truck on a pre-established route delivering and selling products, collecting payments, and picking up returns.

This role requires an early start (as early as 5:30–6:30 am), is responsible for loading/unloading as shipments occur, maintaining the truck, and providing friendly, reliable service to customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1-3 years related experience.
• Must be able to use map software (Google maps, Garmin GPS).
• At least one year operating or working as CDL Driver or working on CDL trucks as a mechanic.

Responsibilities

• Drive truck to deliver and pickup products to and from customer's home or place of business.
• Collect money from customers, make change, and records transactions on customer receipt.
• Prepare order forms and sales contracts; write up Casings, Repairs, and Returns to be brought back.
• Occasionally loads and always unloads truck as deliveries occur.

Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for driving a truck over a pre-established route to deliver and sell products or render services, collect money from customers, and pickup products and other items from them as requested.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Able to start early in the morning i.e., 5:30-6:30 am.
• Drives truck to deliver and pickup products to and from customer's home or place of business.
• Collects money from customers, makes change, and records transactions on customer receipt.
• Writes customer order and instructions.
• Records sales or deliveries information on daily sales or delivery record.
• Calls on prospective customers to solicit new business.
• Prepares order forms and sales contracts.
• Writes up Casings, Repairs, and Returns to be brought back
• Informs regular customers of new products or services.
• Listens to and resolves service complaints.
• Places stock on shelves or racks.
• Collects or picks up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.
• Occasionally loads and always unloads truck (as customer deliveries occur)
• Issues or obtains customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.
• Cleans inside and outside of truck.
• Performs routine inspections and helps schedule regular maintenance on truck.

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training.
• Must be able to use map software (Google maps, Garmin GPS).
• At least one year operating or working as either a CDL Driver or working on CDL trucks as a mechanic- i.e. - Familiar with the operation of a large commercial truck.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability:
