Job summary

XKIG is seeking a Groundman - Overhead in Fayetteville, NC to join our Operations team. This safety-sensitive, full-time role supports line crews in building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems and storm-restoration efforts.

You will perform physical labor, operate vehicles and equipment, and adhere to strict safety rules, with a four-ten-hour-day work schedule. Travel and overtime may be required; valid driver's license is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Able to travel long distances on short notice.
• Able to work extended periods in multiple locations.
• Able to lift more than 50 lbs.
• Willing to work overtime when requested.

Responsibilities

• Assist fellow line-workers in meeting project goals.
• Join storm restoration efforts when needed.
• Follow safety rules during construction or maintenance of energized high voltage systems and de-energized overhead work.
• Inspect rubber goods and PPE and wear properly.
• String overhead wire, set poles and anchors.
• Help install transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, cross-arms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
• Replace fuses in transformers and clear faulty circuits.
• Maintain and operate company vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Perform rigorous physical labor.
• Use company radio.
• Understand basic rigging, hand lines, and lineman knot tying.
• Receive and follow directions.
• Have a basic knowledge of materials used in line work.
• Identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit.
• Perform basic bucket rescue/escape.
• Work at heights and in confined spaces.

Position Purpose:

The Overhead Groundman position is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation's Power Grid. You willassistyour team in building, repairing, andmaintainingoverhead electrical distribution systems.

An employee performs this position in outside-weather conditions.
