Job summary

Alliant Energy in Janesville seeks a Distribution Operator to direct safe, reliable operation of electric and gas systems serving thousands of customers. You will coordinate planned work, support outage restoration, respond to emergencies and make critical operational decisions on 8/10/12-hour rotating shifts—including days, nights, weekends and holidays.

This role requires leadership across departments and strong safety practices.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of electric and gas systems and how they operate.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems by analyzing information.
• Demonstrated leadership in safety, productivity and emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Approves and coordinates all planned, emergency and hot-line switching.
• Dispatches for electric and gas services and coordinates on shift with dispatch resources.
• Provides leadership for multiple departments, locations and contract services.
• Responds to emergencies and minimizes customer impact following company policies.
• Ensures regulatory and compliance reporting within required timeframes.
