Overview

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Material Handler is required to safely, accurately, and efficiently pick, move, count, label, process and store inbound and outbound inventory on all tiers. This position varies and moves based on operational needs and may include picking cases and full pallets of product, auditing orders, replenishing rack storage locations, loading/unloading trucks and wrapper machines, as well as processing shipping labels for pallets and small package orders. This position will handle a variety of value-added services requested by our customers. Additional responsibilities may include cycle counting and receiving in basic freight.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operate a motorized pallet jack, forklift, narrow aisle, and other equipment as needed.
  • Safely operate powered industrial trucks on various tiers including performing all pre-shift inspections, Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, wearing personnel protective equipment, and following all safety rules.
  • Cycle count inbound/outbound material based on needs and training.
  • Perform value added service tasks to inventory based on customer needs and training.
  • Follow and understand all safety expectations designated in the Logistics Center and actively participate in programs design to improve operational safety.
  • Maintain the condition of the Logistics Center in accordance with the Supply Chain Excellence Audit standards.
  • Perform truck battery maintenance and change powered industrial truck batteries in and out of equipment and water batteries as needed.
  • Perform various inventory handling tasks as assigned including loading/unloading trucks, loading/unloading pallets onto a wrap machine, picking cases and full pallet orders, auditing orders, replenishing inventory to pick location and put-away locations, applying UCC128 labels and freight documents, processing small parcel orders, cycle counting inventory, and receiving inventory.
  • Handle a variety of value-added service requests to inbound and outbound inventory such as special labeling, special assembly/configurations, special radio frequency tasks, and moving inventory to special requested pallets.
  • Must be able to maintain quality, accuracy, and productivity standards.
  • Observe and report any damage (equipment, racks, or product) and any hazards immediately.
  • Utilize and adhere to radio frequency scanner and productivity procedures by always being logged into the appropriate computer programs (ex. Warehouse Management System).
  • Maintain cleaning standards designated in the Logistics Center including removing bands, cardboard, excess shrink film, empty skids, damage, sweeping etc.
  • Cultivate Shurtape Technologies culture and values by promoting communication, teamwork, and respectful treatment of all individuals.
  • Perform additional tasks based on the needs of the business as directed by Team Lead or Shift Supervisor.

  • Work requires effective math skills.
  • Must demonstrate a professional attitude toward work and co-workers.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
  • High School or GED equivalent preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Work requires hearing, mental and visual attention.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs., able to bend and lift frequently, and able to work around dust.

WORK ENVIRONMENTThis is a fast-paced work environment with consistent pressure to complete duties as outlined above which requires ability to manage multiple projects at a detailed level and provide support to many internal departments in a fast-changing environment. Many duties listed above are time-sensitive and have strict deadlines for completion.
